Scope:
A. This plan applies to all hazards/incidents (natural and manmade) that cause a significant influx of patients and/or adversely affect or limit the hospital's ability to provide services.

B. This plan addresses only security issues related to implementing the plan. 
Section II of the Environment of Care Manual addresses patient elopements, infant abductions, civil disturbances, VIP and media situations, bomb threats and other security incidents not directly related to this plan. This plan will be activated in conjunction with a security incident when the incident causes a significant influx of patients and/or adversely affects the hospital's ability to provide services.

C. Policy EC-701 addresses utility disruptions and failures. This plan will be activated in conjunction with a utility incident when the incident causes a significant influx of patients and/or adversely affects the hospital's ability to provide services.

D This policy applies only to the hospital. Satellite facilities do not offer emergency services nor are they community-designated disaster-receiving stations. Satellite facilities will close when conditions render the facility unsafe for continued operations. Satellite facility staff members may be told to report to the hospital to assist the hospital staff during an emergency affecting the hospital.
