Preparedness
A. Maintain this plan and improve it based on hazard vulnerability analysis and exercise/incident critiques.

B. Implement an incident command system that allows for the provision of safe and effective patient care and the continuity of hospital operations.

C. Periodically exercise this plan and participate in community-wide exercises

D. Ensure the Incident Command Center has emergency power and other required services. 

E. Mutual-Aid Agreements: To the extent practical, directors of Food Service, Environmental Services, Pharmacy and Purchasing will establish memorandums of understanding/agreement to provide food, water, drugs, supplies and equipment when this plan is activated.

F. Response Inventory: Maintain a 96-hour supply of food, water, drugs, linen, supplies and Diesel fuel to the extent storage space and finances permit.

G. Develop and maintain alternate utility and communication systems. 

H. Maintain stockpiles of antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals needed to maintain a healthy workforce during an emergency.

I. Maintain the decontamination tent, triage trailer, communication equipment and personal protective equipment needed for an emergency response.

J. Conduct staff training, including NIMS training.

K. Resource Acquisition: Identify future equipment needs. ALH will consider national interoperability standards and guidance when purchasing information technology and communication equipment.
