Policy:
The Athens-Limestone Emergency Operations Plan does not assign ALH a specific role during chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) incidents. Athens Fire & Rescue is responsible for on-site decontamination (Emergency Support Function-10, Hazardous Materials): However, ALH must be prepared to provide limited decontamination for victims presenting for treatment who have not been appropriately decontaminated on-site. ALH will designate and train staff members for this contingency. ALH will identify and maintain the equipment and supplies required for the decontamination process. The hospital staff's primary concern is protecting themselves and non-contaminated patients from the CBRN hazard. Treating contaminated patients is secondary to protecting the health and safety of patients and staff. Contaminated patients will be isolated until they are decontaminated and no longer pose a threat.
